Cellar! Mobile Devices
Mobile Cellar!

You can make your Cellar! database available via any wireless device that has either an HTML or a WML (Wireless Markup Language) browser. See the mobile features section for some screenshots of this in use.

To use this feature, you'll first need to export your database to a text file:

  1. From the menu bar, select "Display", then "Available layouts", and then "Mobile Device Export".
  2. Once the display has changed, from the menu bar select "File", then "Export to", then "Text File".
  3. Save the text file somewhere you'll be able to find it (like on your Desktop!).
  4. Enter the location of this file below (or you can use the "Browse" button; make sure to select "Text" in the "Files of type" pulldown).
  5. Once you've filled out the other options, submit this form.
  6. You'll get back a ZIP file of your "Mobile Cellar" (be sure to save it with a ".zip" extension!).
  7. Make a directory on a web server in an HTML document area and unzip the file (your ISP should be able to help you with this if you need assistance).

Then use your wireless device to go to the main page (either index.wml or index.html, depending on the markup language used). That's all there is to it!

ORSelect Options:
Image Type:
Only use images if you have a color display. If you're not sure, try BMP first. If you don't see images, use GIF. If you still don't see images, your device may not support them. GIFs are typically only supported with HTML and usually only with color displays.
Markup Language:
WML is the typical markup language used for small wireless devices such as phones. A larger device, such as a Blackberry, Pocket PC, or Palm may have an HTML browser.
Buffer Size: Most WML-based gateways and/or devices have a limit on the amount of data it can handle at once. Phones are typically 1.5k to 2.5k, while other devices/gateways may support 5k or more.

User-defined Fields Placement: Top
Middle
Bottom
If you've used any of the user-defined fields, you can select where they're placed on the screen. Top: immediately after the title area. Middle: After the general information. Bottom: At the Bottom.

Note: If you're having trouble getting .wml or .bmp, files to come up in your wireless browser, make sure that your web server (or your ISP's web server) has the following MIME types defined:
text/vnd.wap.wml .wml
image/bmp .bmp
